Behind the scenes from our recent shoot in Sequoia National Park
During our recent video shoot in California, we visited breathtaking canyons, trees, and waterfalls. But one of the most memorable sights was actually something very small — a cluster of tiny, purple wildflowers.
It seemed like no matter where the trails led us around Sequoia National Park, bright bursts of purple stood out against the pale boulders. These determined and tenacious wildflowers clung to the hard walls of nearby cliffs and crags, even when there seemed to be no soil in which to root.
Their tenacity reminded our team of how the Apostle Paul encourages us: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21, NIV).
It’s easy to live in the soft soil, but we can also grow in the unwelcoming rocks. Even when the sun scorches us and droughts threaten to dry us up, we will always find water when we drive our roots down deep enough. Jesus is stronger than any evil or challenge we face, and He answers us when we seek Him.
He promises never to leave us to fight challenges on our own: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV). It’s up to us — we can decide if we’ll give up when circumstances are hard, or if we will continue to seek life and truth nonetheless. Keep an eye out for these persevering purple flowers in the first two shots of our recent music video, “Sleepers Awake.”
